Support Citizen Journalism in Muncie Indiana

by David Cohn on November 16, 2007 - 11:01pm.

One thing I think citizen journalists haven’t tapped into is the power of crowdfunding. When lots of people give little amounts of money to support a journalistic endeavor. It’s what Leonard Witt calls “representative journalism.” What I call “spot-journalism,” (as in, “will you spot me 10 dollars”).

I see it happen from time-to-time - but a methodical organization of these fundraising events hasn’t been worked out.

Our friend Kpual Mallach started the Muncie Free Press and it has been a viable citizen journalism effort in Muncie Indiana despite negative reactions from local newspapers.

If you can support citizen journalism in Muncie Indiana, now is the time to give.

(From the Hudsucker Proxy)
Fight on fight on dear old Muncie. Fight on — Hoist the gold and blue. You’ll be tattered, torn and hurtin’. Once ‘The Munce’ is done with you!’
