Today we hit the polls with more than just our votes. NewAssignment.Net’s Polling Place Photo Project is one of many examples where distributed journalists have been asked to take pictures or video of voting centers to keep everything kosher and collect information about the voting process itself.
Is it legal? There is no clear federal answer — a hung jury. But the Stanford Center for Internet and Society has posted a state-by-state resource guide that highlights what laws might apply.
The Polling Place Photo Project needs to provide a field where the uploader can submit their URL and have their name and website associated with their photo.
The way it is now, you have to make your name and email public to have your credit displayed with your photo.
People don’t want to make their emails public.
it would be a good idea if they hooked up with flickr so you don’t have to upload twice.
